It is official: the BEST museum in the World is in Zagreb! It is the most awesome Museum of Broken Relationships and I finally got to visit! I have to say that I have been a fan of the very idea as soon as I heard of it as it is simply brilliant. And the execution is nothing short of superb! Very minimalist and with cleverly designed space as the founders wanted us to focus on our perception of particular situation, relationship long gone, love long died…

This museum has been all over the world in the past few years and it finally found it’s home in the museum part of Gornji grad in Zagreb just next to also wonderful Marton Museum. The founders: Olinka Vištica and Dražen Grubišić, after touring the world with this unique exhibition – and collecting a really unique collection of artifacts worldwide – finally managed to get a fabulous space and open the Museum of Broken Relationships last October.

Entrance fee is 20 kuna (cc 3 Euros) and there are several interesting souvenirs that one can pick up at the small museum store at the entrance. We bought a big eraser called “Bad memories Eraser” 🙂 The exhibits range from personal belongings, an ax, bike….to clothes and several weird stuff.

I took several photos of the museum but they mean nothing… This museum is about people. About your personal, intimate experience of each and every object. Some of the exhibits made me very sad, some made me smile and some of them were simply very interesting. I can only guarantee you that you will not leave the museum feeling nothing! (ok, if you are 10, then I am sure all this makes no sense :)))
A very special place and I felt loving my wife, and appreciating what we have, even more after we walked out to a sunny autumn afternoon in Zagreb…
