Recently I got an email from a Taiwanese couple requesting a visit to Galesnjak – the Herat Shaped Island. They were coming to Croatia and this was one of the key places to visit on their list.
I have organized a pickup at the bus station in Zadar and transfer to Turanj where they boarded the traditional boat to get to the island.
This was the first Taiwanese couple to reach Galesnjak ever!

The island in August is a popular destination for boaters and nudists so don’t expect too much privacy. Tony and Melinda went to the main inlet where very few people come.
Unfortunately, the owners of the island brought the big pontoon dock (looking like a wreck…) and the inlet is no longer as attractive as before.
The island has nothing on it and people still think that there are some facilities or even a restaurant…

The trip lasted from cc 1PM to 7 PM when I organized the pickup and transfer to Biograd where they were catching the 11:15 PM bus to Dubrovnik…

Another couple was here in the Spring for a romantic picnic on Galesnjak and that was much better time to visit! Same will be with September: crowds will be gone and couples will have the island only for themselves…
