Villa Kaliopa Restaurant on Vis Island

Villa Kaliopa is one of those places that just stick to your mind and you idealize them more and more as the time passes. The palm trees seem taller, the garden more spacious and food gets better each time you just think of that place remembering summer, easy living on Vis, scented Adriatic breeze…

Sunset in Villa Kaliopa

So last week, while on Vis, we decided to go back and enjoy that spectacular garden again. And it is still spectacular! Tall palms, sculptures, palm bushes, privacy… all that and much more is Villa Kaliopa – one of the most beautiful gardens on the coast!
This is truly one of the nicest restaurant in the country (if not further) and a very romantic setting makes it perfect for honeymooners, special events… And what I really like about this place is that there are very few tables although the owner could have put at least a dozen more! Privacy is what Villa Kaliopa is all about!

And then food…

Scampi!

Like most of the restaurants on the coast, Villa Kaliopa serves sea food and meat. Nothing special and nothing fancy so we ordered a sea food platter to start with (fish carpaccio) and continued with great grilled scampi and another plate of scampi buzara. Ended with lovely rozata!

Rozata. One of the better rozata cakes one can have in Dalmatian restaurants!

And, of course, enjoyed Vugava!

Vugava!

Overall, Villa Kaliopa is definitely worth visiting but more of the spectacular and very romantic ambiance than food and service that are just like in many other places. The place is not expensive at all although, with a bit more imagination and will, it could be one of the “must see” places on the islands.
One more thing, no credit cards: only cash.
